I knew Saturday was going to be so boring that I didn't even post...Hung out with the dogs, did a little reading/listening to music...blah blah blah. I did end up watching Hairspray...which was better than I expected.
Man...some whacked out dreams last night!...From my father and his family dying in an accident (and then it turning ut to be a hoax....to a mixture of high school people working at the same place I do now....all were very freaky. I don't feel like doing laundry! Just want to chill out with more nothingness and try to catch up on a few more eppies of Mad Men. I should be all set for next weekend's season premiere. It was good to see if it get so many Emmy nominations (but I have to pull for Damages because it and Glenn Close rocked!)
Least I have a short week coming up....even if it is only 1/2 day on Friday. Heading to the maternal ones for the birthday dinner. I think we're going to some Japanese steakhouse. I went out yesterday and got gift for both she and the niece (who's 4th birthday was yesterday). With the price of gas, I should wrap the gas receipt and give that to her, too...heh.
Think I'm going to bust out and make some spicey sausage dip to much on throughout the day. It's veruh guud and veruh easy to make. I also want to bust out the camera and take some pictures since its been so long...but can't think of anything/anywhere inspiring...and its gonna be hot as donkey balls. I have vaguely figured out which pics I want to have printed and framed (at least for the living room) but not sure of the size or how I want to arrange them.
Oh...and I might start this today or tomorrow (ha!)...I was a bit bummed when it turned out to not be 'do 100 situps in 6 weeks' instead of '100 situps at a time in 6 weeks'...but still might give this a shot...emphasis on 'might'. I'm telling ya....the gut is getting out of control...and the man boobies, too. Either that or I'm suddenly anorexic...which I doubt because when you start to 'feel' the difference in tying your shoes...you know the gut is expanding....
On that happy note...here's a band I've been digging lately....enjoy what's left of the weekend!
I just biked home, at 6:30 am on a Saturday. And something about the scratch of squirrels running up a tree, birds fleeing a startled squirrel, my sparkly dress and tights, jello cake strapped to my bike's rack--somehow it all mixes into a very, very important moment. There really is something to knowing a place and realizing, briefly, how bizarre and perfect it is.

Yes. I am tired.
Yes. It was good.
Wouldn't life be so much better if the work week was only 4 days? Tomorrow would be Friday.
Before I forget...Dr. Horrible premiered Part 1 yesterday. Most of the day the site wouldn't load for me but finally saw it yesterday (and then couldn't get it to load again) Hopefully...'everybody has seen it' and I can grab another look later...
Been slowly catching up with Mad Men...and found the whole first season is available on both AMC On Demand and HD On Demand. Good stuff. Speaking of good stuff....so was the season premiere of The Closer. Brenda Lee Johnson rocks!
Finished up I Thought There'd Be Cake by Sloane somethingorother. Some funny stories. Its back to mystery/action with The Cleaner by Brett Battles...
Heading to Rocky Mount to hang with the family for a little while next Friday. Birthdays for the maternal one and one of the nieces. Should be fun.
Heard last night that Chuck Berry will play Raleigh Wide Open at the beginning of September...alog with Soul Asylum, Arressted Development, the Annuals and others...and again..the price is right...FREE.
OH..and cranky...Didn't know you were a publisher!?! ;) Saw this in the latest issue of BookPage (picked up last weekend at the library) Its the first sentence in an article titled "Author tips from a broadcasting pro"
You've written your first book- Confessions of a Cereal Killer: The Life and Times of a Psychotic Breakfast Food Entrepreneur - and its been to sold to Cranky Pants Press".......
I think you should hire me for some kind of job Ms. Publisher. Just not proofreading...heh.
and among all this random random crap...a random tune:
I saw Mongol last night, which:
A) Demonstrated how dang easy it is to forget languages!
B) Made me happy because it's all in Mongol!
C) Was sort of accurate, sort of not. Seriously, what was with all the swords? And the fur in summer?
D) Is apparently part one of a trilogy, which makes me happy because I'm way more interested in 1206 onward in many ways. The most exciting part of the film was the last battle. Genghis was a military genius and it is SO COOL to see his strategies on film. Even if they somehow involve swords in the movie version.
E) Made me want to re-read the Secret History.
F) I will probably buy, even though it was pretty flawed.
I miss my sister. How does anyone deal with this?
Although we typically post on Team Vox to let you know about things that are going on with Vox (to, uh, state the obvious), once in a while, we like to let you know about other cool things that are happening around the blogosphere. And we think the idea of four hilarious mommy bloggers traveling across the U.S. on their way to the BlogHer '08 conference - all the while blogging and video blogging the journey - is one trip you will not want to miss.
Four adventurous bloggers from the Silicon Valley Moms Group were selected to participate in the Summer Road Trip '08 and blog about their travels, hotel stays, media appearances, time away from their families, and life on the road. Six Apart helped them partner up with General Motors, who provided the blogging mommies with a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV to help make their journey comfy, safe, and a little more green.
In case you're not familiar with them, SV Moms is a group of over 200 bloggers who showcase the ups, downs, outrages, struggles, victories, and everyday humor of motherhood. There are currently nine regional and demographically tailored sites that give mothers from D.C., New Jersey, the Deep South, Rocky Mountains, L.A., and Silicon Valley a powerful voice and sense of camaraderie across the country. Whether you're a mother, a child, or just a person who enjoys a good blog, you'll really love reading the words of these amazing women.
The moms buckled into their Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV on July 11th and even got an encouraging message from Katie Couric to kick things off! They are currently somewhere in the middle of America making their way to San Francisco where they'll attend an SV Moms Group Party, as well as BlogHer '08.
You do not want to miss these entertaining and irreverent bloggers -- or their spontaneous contest giveaways! -- as they blog from the road. Experience the journey at MomRoadTrip.com.
And let us know about your summer road trip - or plane/boat/bus trip - in the comments! (I like to live vicariously.)
Nothing exciting here...a few newbies and a few that haven't been seen in awhile...
